# Type

> Type text into a field

## Description

Types text into a focused or targeted input field on the current page.

## Authentication

Open-source deployments do not require authentication by default. If your server config enables `X-API-Key`, include that header with the request.

## Path Parameters

<ParamField path="id" type="string" required>
  The browser ID returned from Create Session.
</ParamField>

## Request Body

<ParamField body="text" type="string" required>
  The text to type.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="node_id" type="integer">
  Node ID of the input field to type into. If omitted, Rusty Browser types into the currently focused element.
</ParamField>

## Response

<ResponseField name="success" type="boolean">
  Whether the text was typed successfully.
</ResponseField>
